Wind Horse on the Journey to the Sacred Ground of the Ancient Mountain of the Ancestral Spirit
The powerful Tibetan symbol of the Wind Horse (Lungta) is known to carry prayers of sentient beings beyond the world and into the heavens. The sound of their hooves intertwined with the wind creates a powerful energetic vibration that helps manifest good fortune and well being.
The symbolism of this spiral movement within his painting is an expression of the unseen interconnectedness that all sentient beings have with each other and to nature. The Dancing Brush, which is the spiral movement, shows the flow of living connections we have to all life, all sentient beings, seen or unseen to the human eye.
The Torii gate has only been featured in three other original paintings by Honshin. The torii gate signals a transition from the profane world into the sacred. By walking through the torii, one has entered the world of the Kami, or Shinto gods. When the Wind Horse journeys to and from the torii gate it is to carry the prayers of all sentient beings into the sacred world and other realms.
