Sculptural Icons of Compassion and Myth

Nicholas Kirsten Honshin’s sculptures are the embodiment of the seen and the unseen, the visible and the invisible energetic forces which help guide and inspire us as we move through our spiritual journeys towards a deeper understanding of the mysteries of the universe and ourselves. Each hand made sculpture that Honshin creates is one of a kind and embraces evocative themes such as interconnectivity, compassion, blessings, love, celestial events, protection, powerful forces of nature and the magical wonders of life. Every piece presents multiple symbolic connotations and communicates a unique story.

The visual content of each figure ranges from Japanese Ojizo guardians, spiritual figures and deities such as the merciful Goddess Kwan Yin and Hindu God Hanuman, wise Shamans and ancestral spirits, Mayan inspired icons, and inspirational and mythological creatures. Honshin forms and molds his sculptures using a variety of materials including high fired clay and glazes, molten glass, wood, bronze and other metals, and an assortment of crystals and gemstones according to his desired production of each impression. Sometimes his pieces are also incorporated into his acrylic paintings, producing a multi-media, three-dimensional original wall art.
